It installs as a direct-fit replacement on the listed Mercedes-Benz applications — 2007 GL450, 1998-2003 ML320, 2003-2005 ML350, 1998-2001 ML430, 2002-2007 ML500 and 2000-2003 ML55 AMG (see the Buyer's Guide tab for engine specifics). This Lift-O-Mat by Stabilus uses a longitudinal groove — a velocity manifold pressed into the tube wall — that lets gas flow around the piston with extension speed and damping tuned for this application, and the groove narrows toward the end of the stroke for a gentle, controlled stop.
