This 21.89-inch Lift-O-Mat by Stabilus uses dynamic damping speed control for a fluid opening motion, so the liftgate raises without bouncing or jerking during cycling. A longitudinal groove pressed into the tube wall (Stabilus calls it a velocity manifold) lets gas flow around the piston, and the groove narrows toward the end of the stroke for a gentle, controlled stop.
