The rotor turns with the distributor shaft. It carries the ignition coil's high-voltage current from the center of the distributor cap to each spark plug terminal in firing order.

- Shaft retention clips: Clips are used where the application requires them, for proper fit and performance on the distributor shaft.
Signs that a distributor rotor may need replacing include misfires, hard starting, rough running, or a rotor tip that looks burned, worn or cracked. If a worn rotor is the cause, this part replaces it. Inspect the distributor cap at the same time.
