Standard Ignition Distributor Rotor P/N:GB-325
Send coil voltage to the right spark plug terminal in firing order with the Standard Ignition Distributor Rotor GB-324 (also written GB324). It is a direct-fit replacement for many vehicles, including the 1975-1980 Volkswagen Rabbit, 1971-1974 Ford Pinto and 1966-1971 BMW 2000. See the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list and engine details.
The rotor mounts on the distributor shaft and turns with it inside the distributor cap. It carries high voltage from the cap's center brush to each outer terminal in turn, and from there the spark goes to the plugs.
Signs a distributor rotor may need replacing include misfires, hard starting, rough running or stalling. On inspection you may also see a burned or eroded tip, cracks, or carbon tracking. If a worn rotor is the cause, GB-324 replaces it. Inspect the distributor cap at the same time, and diagnose the ignition system before replacing parts.
What does a distributor rotor do?
It turns with the distributor shaft and passes high voltage from the cap's center brush to each outer terminal in turn. This routes spark to the plugs in firing order.
What is the GB-324 rotor made of?
Standard Ignition lists a high dielectric-strength engineering polymer body, a solid brass segment and a stainless steel spring that contacts the distributor cap brush.
How does the rotor stay on the distributor shaft?
GB-324 uses shaft retention clips to fit properly on the distributor shaft.
Will this rotor fit my vehicle?
It fits many vehicles, including the 1966-1971 BMW 2000 and the 1971-1974 Ford Pinto. The Buyer's Guide tab has the full list with engine details.
How do I know my rotor needs replacing?
Possible signs include misfires, hard starting or rough running, plus a burned tip, cracks or carbon tracking on the rotor. Diagnose the ignition system first, because other components can cause the same symptoms.
