Keep high-voltage spark reaching the right cylinder at the right moment with the Standard Ignition Distributor Rotor GB-344. It is a direct-fit replacement for a wide range of Volkswagen, Audi, Volvo, BMW and other applications, including the 1981-1984 Volkswagen Rabbit, 1980-1986 Audi 4000 and 1975-1981 Volvo 242.

The rotor mounts on the distributor shaft and spins beneath the cap. As it turns, it carries coil voltage across to each cap terminal in turn, which sends spark down the plug wires.

  • Quality control throughout: Standard Ignition is a global manufacturer of original equipment ignition products and oversees quality from individual components through to the finished rotor.
  • Dirt-resistant alkyd: The rotor uses a high-grade alkyd with high dielectric strength. It resists dirt sticking to its surface, which helps decrease carbon tracking and extend service life.
  • Solid brass segments: These are designed for better conductivity and a higher-voltage spark to the plugs.
  • Shaft retention clips: A retention clip is used where the application requires one, for a proper fit on the shaft.

Signs a rotor may need replacing include misfires, hard starting, rough running, or a rotor tip that is burned, cracked or carbon-tracked. If a worn rotor is the cause, GB-344 replaces it. The complete list of applications, with engine details, is on the Buyer's Guide tab.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a distributor rotor do?

It turns with the distributor shaft and passes high-voltage current from the coil to each distributor cap terminal in turn. This sends spark to the correct plug wire.

Which vehicles does the Standard Ignition GB-344 fit?

It fits many vehicles, including the 1981-1984 Volkswagen Rabbit, 1980-1986 Audi 4000 and 1975-1981 Volvo 242. See the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list and engine details.

What are signs a distributor rotor may need replacing?

Common signs include misfires, hard starting, rough running, or a rotor tip that is burned, eroded, cracked or carbon-tracked. Diagnose the cause first, because other ignition parts can cause the same symptoms.

What is the GB-344 rotor made of?

Standard Ignition uses a high-grade alkyd with high dielectric strength that resists dirt buildup to help reduce carbon tracking. It has solid brass segments for conductivity.

Who makes the GB-344?

Standard Ignition makes it. The company is a global manufacturer of original equipment ignition products and maintains quality control from components through to the finished product.
