Standard Ignition HVAC Blower Motor Resistor P/N:RU-284
Designed to bring back full fan-speed control on your climate system, the Standard Ignition Blower Motor Resistor RU-242 is a front-position direct-fit replacement for the 1981-1990 Toyota Land Cruiser and 1978-1980 Toyota Cressida. The resistor reduces the voltage reaching the blower motor, which lets the A/C and heater fan run at its lower speeds instead of only at full blast.
This HVAC blower motor resistor may need replacing if the fan works only on its highest setting or if one or more speeds have stopped working. The switch, wiring or motor can cause similar symptoms, so diagnose the circuit before replacing the resistor. See the Buyer's Guide tab for engine-specific details.

Is this the right blower motor resistor for a 1981-1990 Toyota Land Cruiser?
It fits the 1981-1990 Toyota Land Cruiser and is also listed for the 1978-1980 Toyota Cressida. Check the Buyer's Guide tab for full application details.
What does a blower motor resistor do?
It lowers the voltage reaching the blower motor so the A/C and heater fan can run at reduced speeds. If the resistor fails, the lower fan settings may stop working.
What are signs the blower motor resistor may need replacing?
Common signs are a fan that works only on high or speeds that have dropped out. The switch, wiring or motor can cause similar symptoms, so diagnose the circuit before replacing the resistor.
What are the RU-242's electrical connectors made of?
Standard Ignition uses premium copper electrical connectors on the RU-242. They are intended to give more precise resistance values and a longer part life.
What part numbers does the RU-242 cross-reference?
It cross-references RU942, JA1323, BR152, 1468100491 and 8713822030.
