The Standard Ignition Starter Relay RY-478 is a Toyota Land Cruiser relay built for that job on the 1998-2002 Toyota Land Cruiser and the 1998-2003 Lexus LX470. A starter relay lets a small control current from the ignition switch operate a higher-current circuit that engages the starter, so the switch does not carry the full starting load. This relay is designed to take over that switching duty from a worn original.
