The control arm locates the lower end of the front suspension and, through its bushings and integrated ball joint, lets the wheel move through steering and suspension travel while holding it in alignment. Worn bushings or a loose ball joint can show up as clunking over bumps, uneven front tire wear, or wandering steering.
