The oxygen sensor measures combustion efficiency based on the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas, reporting the air-fuel ratio back to the ECU.
- Platinum electrodes: a gas-permeable platinum electrode layer reads the oxygen content of the exhaust gas.
- Protective coating: shields the electrode surfaces from contamination and erosion by combustion residue and particulates.
