Fire all six cylinders with a stronger spark using the ACCEL SuperCoil Ignition Coil 140036, a 6-tower EDIS coil pack with a vertical plug molded in signature ACCEL yellow. It's a direct plug-in replacement for the listed applications: the 1989-2000 Ford Taurus (V6-3.0L), 1994-2000 Ford Mustang (V6-3.8L), 1994-1997 Ford Thunderbird (V6-3.8L), 1995-1997 Ford Aerostar (V6-3.0L), 1995-2000 Ford Ranger (V6-3.0L), 1995-2000 Ford Windstar (V6-3.0L and V6-3.8L), 1996-1997 Mercury Sable (V6-3.0L) and 1997 Mercury Cougar (V6-3.8L). An ignition coil steps battery voltage up to the high voltage that fires the spark plugs; weak spark, misfires and hard starts are common signs a coil may need replacing.

  • 10-15% more energy than OEM coils through optimized winding, resistance and turns ratios.
  • Advanced bobbin technology with highly specialized silicone magnetic steel cores.
  • High-temperature epoxy resists shock and vibration while increasing thermal conductivity.
  • Direct plug-in OE fit with brass secondary contacts; use the factory firing order.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this ignition coil do?

It steps battery voltage up to the high voltage needed to fire the spark plugs. This EDIS unit serves all six towers as a coil pack.

Will it fit my vehicle?

It's a direct plug-in replacement for the listed V6-3.0L and V6-3.8L Ford and Mercury applications, such as the 1989-2000 Taurus and 1994-2000 Mustang. See the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list.

How is it different from an OEM coil?

ACCEL states it delivers 10-15% more energy than OEM coils through optimized winding, resistance and turns ratios, plus advanced bobbin technology and silicone magnetic steel cores.

What are signs this coil may need replacing?

Misfires, weak or intermittent spark, rough running and hard starts can point to a failing coil. Diagnose the cause before replacing, since these symptoms have other possible sources.

Do I need to change my firing order when installing it?

No. ACCEL specifies you must use the factory firing order with this coil, and it's OBD II compatible safe.
