Four Seasons A/C Receiver Drier / Desiccant Element P/N:83288

Description

Keep cabin air cold and protect your A/C compressor with the Four Seasons A/C Receiver Drier / Desiccant Element 83288. This filter-drier desiccant bag kit ships with a plug and drops in as a direct-fit replacement for the 2008-2010 Saturn Vue and the 2012-2015 Chevrolet Captiva Sport — see the "Vehicles it fits" section for engine-level fitment.

Filters and dries the refrigerant: acts as a filter that removes moisture and contaminants from the air conditioning system — contaminants that flushing cannot remove, which is why the drier is replaced whenever the system is serviced.
Desiccant absorption: a desiccant bag absorbs moisture in the system; a leaking or "open" system can saturate the bag within hours and leave the drier ineffective.
Installation hardware included: the necessary gaskets, o-rings and seal are included for installation, along with the plug.
Built for the job: produced in an ISO/TS16949 and ISO14001 certified facility with quality welds for a durable, leak-free design and high-quality desiccant for appropriate absorption.

Four Seasons notes that replacing the accumulator / filter drier is required to validate compressor warranty and should be done anytime the system is opened for service.

Buyer's Q&A

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this receiver drier do?

It acts as a filter, removing moisture and contaminants from the A/C system through a desiccant bag. This helps protect the system from damage that flushing alone cannot address.

Which vehicles does the 83288 fit?

It is a direct-fit replacement for the 2008-2010 Saturn Vue and 2012-2015 Chevrolet Captiva Sport. Check the "Vehicles it fits" section to confirm fitment for your vehicle.

Are gaskets and seals included?

Yes. Four Seasons includes the necessary gaskets, o-rings and seal for installation, and this kit also ships with a plug.

Do I need to replace the drier when servicing the A/C?

Four Seasons states the drier must be replaced anytime the system is serviced and that replacement is required to validate compressor warranty.

Why does a drier become ineffective?

A leaking or open A/C system can saturate the desiccant bag within a few hours, leaving it unable to absorb moisture and rendering the drier ineffective.
