Description

When uptime matters, the Gates Super HC PowerBand narrow-section molded notch joined V-belt, part number 2/5VX800, is made for drives where single belts vibrate, turn over or jump off the pulleys. It fits a range of vehicles in the air conditioning drive position, among them the 1991 New Flyer D40, 1991 New Flyer D40LF and 1988-1990 Flxible Transit Bus Metro 35. See the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list. The PowerBand design pairs flex with load capacity, and each strand sits securely in its pulley groove for even load distribution.

Tie band construction: A permanent, high-strength tie band joins multiple V-belts so they work as one unit. It gives high lateral rigidity, guides the belt in a straight line and helps keep it on the drive. The band also controls belt-to-belt distance and prevents sideways bending.
Flex-Weave cover: Gates' proprietary, patented fabric cover is designed to protect the belt core from oil, contaminants and heat for longer belt life.
Flex-bonded cords: The cords are strongly bonded to the belt body for equal load distribution and resistance to fatigue and shock loads. They absorb bending stress without cord deterioration.
Built for tough drives: The belt is highly resistant to tensile and flexing forces, fatigue and shock loads, for stable, smooth running.

Gates rates the belt for -22°F to +140°F (-30°C to +60°C). It meets or exceeds RMA standards for static conductivity and for heat and oil resistance. The Super HC PowerBand line is offered in 3V, 3VX, 5V, 5VX and 8V cross-sections.
