Settle body motion and sharpen steering feel on your SUV with the KYB Gas-a-just Suspension Strut KG9144, a high-pressure monotube gas strut that installs as a direct-fit front replacement for the 2001-2004 Mitsubishi Montero. Its components and valving are designed specifically for the Montero, so it drops into the factory location as a front unit.

Monotube gas design: Two separate working chambers — an air-free hydraulic piston and valve area plus a high-pressure nitrogen gas chamber with a floating piston — separate the gas and oil for fade-free operation and instant response.
Extra damping: Adds up to 25% more damping performance over original equipment shocks, with additional damping intended for vehicles that work, tow, and run larger, heavier tires and wheels.
Durable rod: An ultra-smooth triple chrome plated piston rod helps reduce seal wear, since fluid leaking can be a cause of shock failure.
Responsive & safety-minded: Higher gas pressure responds quickly to improve steering response and helps keep Electronic Safety Systems performing as designed.

To reduce the chance of noise and vibration, KYB recommends new strut mounts (part number SM5314), and a KYB Strut Boot (part number SB104) helps protect against dirt, debris and salt.
