What does the MSD 8365 distributor replace?
It is designed to replace GM HEI distributors that use a 4-pin ignition module. Confirm your original module type and application in the Buyer's Guide before ordering.
Does it include an ignition module and coil?
Yes. It is supplied with MSD's Digital HEI Module (PN 83647) and an MSD HEI Coil (PN 8225), along with a new cap, brass-terminal rotor and coil cover.
How adjustable is the timing advance?
The centrifugal advance uses three sets of springs and four stop bushings, letting you dial in up to 24 timing curves. A vacuum advance is included, and the mechanical advance can be locked out for crank trigger systems.
What is the spark output rating?
The included 8.5 amp single-spark inductive discharge module delivers full spark energy output to 9000 rpm.
What shaft and gear does it use?
It has a QPQ-coated polished steel shaft guided by sealed ball bearings and a heavy-duty iron gear, with a special oil tract to improve lubrication to the distributor/cam gear.
