Upgrade a bulky DuraSpark or ancient breaker-point setup with the MSD Ready-To-Run Distributor 83521. It comes complete and ready to run — drop it in the engine, connect three wires, and fire it up. This distributor is a direct-fit application for a wide range of Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles, including the 1966-1977 and 1980-1996 Ford Bronco, 1975-1996 Ford F-150, 1964-1973, 1979, and 1982-1995 Ford Mustang, 1981-1990 Lincoln Town Car, and 1979-1991 Mercury Grand Marquis. Ships with a small-diameter bolt-down cap using HEI-style terminals, an MSD race rotor, and will accept PN 8441 Cap-A-Dapt. CARB E.O. approved. Advance plate and weights are fine-blanked from chrome moly steel with staked, TIG-welded weight pins and nylon pads for smooth operation.
Does this distributor need a separate MSD ignition box?
No. The 83521 is a Ready-To-Run unit with a built-in ignition module and does not require a separate MSD Ignition Control — just drop it in and connect three wires.
Can I adjust the timing advance curve?
Yes. It uses MSD's mechanical advance assembly and comes supplied with different advance springs and stop bushings so you can tune a curve to match your needs. A vacuum advance canister is also included.
Is it legal for street use?
It is CARB E.O. approved. Confirm the specific E.O. number applies to your vehicle and state before installing.
What cap and rotor does it use?
It ships with a small-diameter bolt-down cap using HEI-style terminals and an MSD race rotor. It will also accept the PN 8441 Cap-A-Dapt if you need a larger cap.
