An accelerator cable mechanically connects the accelerator pedal to the engine's throttle linkage. The throttle opens as you press the pedal and closes as you release it. Pioneer designs its cables as a high-quality replacement alternative.

Signs an accelerator cable may need replacing: a pedal that sticks or feels stiff, a throttle that is slow to return to idle, excess slack or delayed response, or a visibly frayed cable or damaged housing.
