The outer tie rod end links the steering linkage to the steering knuckle and carries each steering input to the wheel. MOOG designs this one for OE fit and function, and its engineers test it throughout design and development.

• Pressed-in cover plate: A patented pressed-in cover plate seals out debris and minimizes looseness to reduce bearing wear. A premium boot keeps out contaminants.
• Greaseable socket with Gusher bearing: New lubricant can flush out contaminants to reduce corrosion and wear. The metal-to-metal Problem Solver® Gusher bearing lets grease flow through the bearing surface for reduced friction.
• Belleville preload washer: Helps absorb impact and helps keep the bearing package tight as the bearings wear.
• Forged alloy steel, heat-treated studs: Made of forged alloy steel for durability. The ball studs are heat treated to match or exceed OE requirements, which is intended to inhibit premature failure and improve fatigue strength.

Precision tolerances are intended to make installation and steering alignment straightforward. Loose or wandering steering, uneven tire wear or a torn boot can be signs that a tie rod end may need replacing. Diagnose the cause before replacing parts, and have the alignment checked after installation.
