Restore factory-level damping and firm up a soft ride with this KYB shock absorber — the Gas-a-just High Pressure Monotube Gas Shock (MPN KG4539), a rear-position unit available as an OE monotube replacement. It fits the 1984-1985 and 1991-1992 BMW 318I, the 1991-1992 BMW 318IS, the 1986-1988 BMW 325, the 1984-1987 BMW 325E, and the 1988-1991 BMW 325I, 325IS, 325IX and M3 — see the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list.

  • High-pressure monotube design: separates the gas and oil for fade-free operation and instant response.
  • Two working chambers: an air-free hydraulic piston and valve area for responsiveness and control, plus a high-pressure nitrogen gas area with a floating piston.
  • Triple chrome-plated piston rod: an ultra-smooth surface helps reduce seal wear, since fluid leaking can be a cause of shock failure.
  • Added damping: adds up to 25% more damping performance over original equipment shocks, for vehicles that work, tow, or run larger, heavier tires and wheels.

As a KYB gas shock absorber, the Gas-a-just also helps keep Electronic Safety Systems performing as designed. To reduce the chance of noise and vibration, KYB recommends installing new strut mounts, part number SM5013.
