Standard Ignition Distributor Cap P/N:JH-108
Keep high-voltage spark reaching every plug wire with the Standard Ignition distributor cap, part number JH-74. It is the Nissan Maxima distributor cap for 1981-1984 models and is also listed for the 1979-1983 Nissan 280ZX and 1979-1981 Nissan 810, as a direct-fit replacement for the listed applications.
The cap covers the top of the distributor. As the rotor turns beneath it, the cap routes voltage from the ignition coil through its terminals to the spark plug wires. Over time a cap can crack or develop carbon tracks and corroded terminals. If a worn cap is behind misfires or hard starting, this replaces it.

Which vehicles is the Standard JH-74 distributor cap listed for?
It is listed for the 1981-1984 Nissan Maxima, 1979-1983 Nissan 280ZX and 1979-1981 Nissan 810. Engine details are in the Buyer's Guide tab.
What does a distributor cap do?
It covers the distributor and carries high voltage from the ignition coil to the spark plug wire terminals as the rotor turns beneath it.
What is the JH-74 cap made of?
Standard makes its distributor caps from high dielectric strength, glass/mineral reinforced polyester resin. This is designed to reduce carbon tracking and resist electrical breakdown.
What are signs a distributor cap may need replacing?
Cracks, carbon tracks or corroded terminals on the cap, along with misfires, hard starting or rough running, may point to it. Diagnose first, as other ignition parts can cause the same symptoms.
How do I install a replacement distributor cap?
Move the spark plug wires from the old cap to the matching terminals on the new one, one at a time, to keep the firing order. Follow the vehicle service information for mounting.
