The rotor mounts on the distributor shaft and spins with it. As it turns, it carries high-voltage current past each outer terminal of the distributor cap in turn, so the spark can travel on to the plugs.
Signs a distributor rotor may need replacing include misfires, hard starting and rough running. An inspection may also show a burned or worn rotor tip or carbon tracks. If a worn rotor is the cause, JR-185 replaces it. Inspect the distributor cap at the same time.
