Standard Ignition Distributor Rotor P/N:JR-74
Standard Motor Products
Help every cylinder get its spark with the Standard Ignition Distributor Rotor JR-72, made from a high dielectric-strength engineering polymer with a solid brass segment. It fits many vehicles, among them the 1976-1989 Honda Accord, 1973-1987 Honda Civic and 1987-1989 Nissan Ichi Van. See the "Vehicles it fits" section for the full list and engine details.
The rotor sits on the distributor shaft and turns with it, passing each high-voltage pulse from the coil to the distributor cap terminals in firing order. If a worn or burned rotor is behind your misfire or hard starting, the JR-72 replaces it.
Signs a distributor rotor may need replacing: engine misfires, rough running, hard starting or a no-start condition, and a rotor tip that looks burned, pitted or eroded. Diagnose the cause before replacing parts, and inspect the distributor cap while it is off.

Is the Standard Ignition JR-72 a 1973-1987 Honda Civic distributor rotor?
Yes. The JR-72 is listed for the 1973-1987 Honda Civic and the 1976-1989 Honda Accord, among many other vehicles. Check the "Vehicles it fits" section for your exact vehicle and engine.
What does a distributor rotor do?
It turns with the distributor shaft and passes high-voltage pulses from the ignition coil to each distributor cap terminal in firing order, so each spark plug gets its spark.
What is the JR-72 made of?
It uses a high dielectric-strength engineering polymer, designed to resist breakdown and arcing, and a solid brass segment that resists pitting and erosion.
How does this rotor attach to the distributor?
It uses shaft retention clips to fit properly on the distributor shaft. Follow your vehicle's service information for removal and installation.
What are signs of a worn distributor rotor?
Common signs include misfires, rough running, hard starting or no-start, and a burned, pitted or eroded rotor tip. Diagnose the cause first, since other ignition parts can cause the same symptoms.
