The sensor reads crankshaft position and speed from a target wheel and signals the engine computer, which uses that signal to time ignition and fuel delivery. Standard Ignition engineered it specifically for GM vehicles.
- Fully tested: every unit goes through environmental, endurance and end-of-line testing for timing, pulse width and signal amplitude, for consistent reliability.
- Protective circuitry: advanced circuitry guards the system against stray electromagnetic fields and power spikes.
- Calibrated signal: the magnetic circuit is custom-programmed during performance testing to improve timing accuracy between the target wheel and the sensor output. An integrated A/D converter and digital signal processing with a dynamically adaptive switch point add accuracy.
- Sealed build: an insert-molded rare earth magnet and surface-mount electronics sit in a sealed housing suited to under-the-hood use. The sensor keeps a compact shape.
The sensor bolts on. It connects through an oval, female plug-in connector with three male blade terminals. The listed applications use one sensor each. Country of origin: Mexico.
Signs this part may need replacing include cranking with no start, stalling, hesitation or intermittent misfires. These can have other causes, so diagnose first. If a failed crankshaft sensor is the cause, the PC123 replaces it.
