If worn brushes are behind slow or inconsistent cranking, the Standard Ignition Starter Brush Set FX-66 gives your starter motor a fresh set of brushes to work with. It is a direct-fit replacement for the listed applications and fits many vehicles, including the 1982-1991 Ford F-150 4.9L / 5.0L / 5.8L and 1987-1992 Ford Mustang 2.3L / 3.8L / 4.2L / 5.0L.

Inside a starter motor, the brushes ride against the armature's commutator and carry electrical current into the spinning armature so the starter can turn the engine over. As brushes wear down, their contact with the commutator weakens. This set replaces the worn brushes during starter repair.
