A lower ball joint links the lower control arm to the steering knuckle, which lets the wheel steer and move with the suspension. Signs that a Ram 1500 lower ball joint may need replacing include clunking over bumps, loose or wandering steering and uneven tire wear. Other front-end parts can cause the same symptoms, so inspect the suspension before you replace anything.
