Backed by Four Seasons' mobile A/C experience, this accumulator is engineered and tested for long-lasting operation. Replacing the accumulator/filter drier is required to validate compressor warranty and should be done anytime the system is opened for service.
What does the A/C accumulator do?
It acts as a filter, removing moisture and contaminants from the air conditioning system using an internal desiccant bag — contaminants that cannot be cleared by flushing alone.
Which vehicles does the 33173 fit?
It's a direct-fit replacement for the listed applications, including the 1987-1991 Chevrolet Beretta and Corsica and 1989 Buick Century. See the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list.
Are gaskets and seals included?
Yes. The necessary gaskets, o-rings and seal are included to help with installation.
Why should I replace the accumulator when servicing the A/C?
A leaking or open system can saturate the desiccant bag within a few hours, making the unit ineffective. Replacement is also required to validate the compressor warranty.
How does the desiccant remove moisture?
Moisture in the system is absorbed through a desiccant bag inside the accumulator. Once the bag becomes saturated, the accumulator can no longer absorb moisture effectively.
