Weak cooling, a noisy compressor or a clutch that does not engage can mean the compressor is wearing out, but a low refrigerant charge or a slipping belt can produce similar symptoms. With the engine off, look over the belt and the compressor body for damage or oily residue, and leave pressure and clutch testing to a shop. The quantity is one compressor per car.
