Gain valuable air gap between your plug boots and tubular headers with the ACCEL spark plug 8197, a U-groove Shorty header plug with a shorter overall length than an OE-style plug. It is listed for many vehicles, among them the 1958-1970 Chevrolet Impala 4.6L / 5.0L / 5.3L / 5.4L / 5.7L, 1968-1978 Dodge Charger 6.3L / 6.6L / 7.2L and 1967-1970 Chevrolet Camaro 5.0L / 5.3L / 5.4L / 5.7L, all with V8 engines from V8-4.3L to V8-7.5L.

This is ACCEL's patented, race-proven plug in a Shorty configuration built for tubular exhaust headers. The reduced overall length adds critical air gap between the spark plug boot and the exhaust manifold or header tube. That clearance is designed to help prevent burned plug boots and dimpled header tubes. The shorter plug can also make installation and removal easier where there is little room for a socket or a wrench.

  • Copper core center electrode: Copper conducts better than platinum or iridium and dissipates heat well, which helps lessen the chance of a misfire.
  • Gapable: The plug is listed at a 0.035 in. gap. You can open it to expose a larger flame kernel or close it when a high-boost application calls for it.
  • Machine-rolled threads: These give precise thread engagement and torque retention.
  • Specifications: The plug has a 14mm thread, 0.375 in. reach, a flat gasket seat, a projected tip and a resistor design.

Sold as an 8-pack. Country of origin: Czech Republic. See the Buyer's Guide tab for the complete list of years, models and engines.
