The pump moves pressurized power steering fluid to the steering gear to provide hydraulic assist. Whining or groaning noise, hard or heavy steering, and fluid leaks are signs the original pump may need replacing — diagnose the cause before ordering, and if a worn pump is the cause, this unit replaces it.
