A weak pump can show up as hard starting, a rough idle or a loss of power under load. Other fuel-system parts, such as a filter, a sensor or an injector, can produce those symptoms too, so find the cause before replacing the pump. With the engine off and cool, you can look over the pump and fuel lines for wetness or a fuel smell; pressure tests are for a shop.
