Hooker 2457HKR exhaust header for the 1965-1970 Chevrolet Impala 6.5L / 7.0L / 7.4L and other vehicles is a black-painted long-tube header. Its long transition collector is designed to reduce back pressure and increase exhaust flow.

A ticking or rasping exhaust note, most often on a cold start, soot around an exhaust port or a visible crack in a tube can mean the header or its flange joint is leaking. These signs alone do not prove the header is at fault, since a worn port gasket may be the real source of the leak. Look for cracks or soot trails only with the engine off and cool.
