Send the high voltage of your MSD racing ignition straight to the plugs with the MSD IGNITION distributor, part number 8558 — a CNC-machined billet, low-profile crank trigger distributor for Chevy small-block (262-400) and big-block (396-454) V8s. It's designed to sit low in the block to clear tight firewall/intake combinations, and it fits many classic Chevrolet applications including the 1967-1974 Chevrolet Camaro [V8-5.7L], 1969-1974 Chevrolet Impala [V8-5.7L], and 1968-1973 Chevrolet C10 Pickup [V8-5.0L]. • Crank trigger system: Runs off a crank-triggered signal — must be used with an MSD crank trigger and an MSD ignition control.
• High-voltage cap & rotor: Large-diameter HEI-style red cap with wide-spaced terminals and an injection-molded Rynite rotor with thick vanes; the high-dielectric Dupont Rynite base helps prevent arcing to the billet aluminum housing.
• Durable drive: Oversized polished steel shaft with QPQ coating, guided by sealed ball bearings, supplied with a bronze gear; a special oil tract improves lubrication to the distributor/cam gear.
• Tall-block fit: Adjustable slip-collar mounting flange lets the 8558 fit most tall-block engines with modified deck heights.
