MSD Distributor P/N:8529
MSD 85840 distributor for the 1981-1996 Ford F-150 V8 5.8L and other vehicles is a billet MSD Ignition distributor that sends timing signals from a magnetic pickup and delivers spark. Just under the brass terminals of the MSD cap and rotor sits an easy-to-adjust mechanical advance assembly.
A worn distributor can show up as a misfire, hard starting or a rough idle, though plugs, wires and coils can produce these signs too. With the engine off and cool, look over the cap and rotor terminals for cracks or burn marks and feel the shaft for side play before deciding the distributor is the cause. The 1981-1996 Ford F-150 V8 5.8L takes one.
This distributor also fits the 1981-1996 Ford F-250 V8 5.8L and the 1995 Ford Mustang V8 5.8L. If your own truck or car is not named here, look up its year and engine in the "Vehicles it fits" section.
