Standard Ignition Distributor Rotor P/N:DU-317
Keep high-voltage spark reaching each cylinder in the right order with the Standard Ignition Distributor Rotor DU-316. This rotor rides on the distributor shaft beneath the cap. As it turns, it carries current from the cap's center terminal to each spark plug terminal. It is cataloged as a replacement for a wide range of classic French cars, including the 1957-1967 Peugeot 403, 1959-1967 Citroen DS19, 1961-1969 Peugeot 404, 1963-1975 Renault R8, 1969-1971 Simca 1204 and 1976-1983 Renault R5.
Signs a rotor may need replacing include misfires, hard starting, rough running or a no-start. You may also see a burned or eroded tip, cracks, or carbon tracks. The cap, plug wires, coil or plugs can cause the same symptoms, so diagnose the ignition system before replacing parts. DU-316 also covers additional Citroen, Peugeot, Renault and Simca models. See the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list and engine details.

This part cross-references / interchanges with the following part numbers:
What does a distributor rotor do?
The rotor turns with the distributor shaft. It passes high-voltage current from the cap's center terminal to each spark plug terminal in firing order, sending spark to the correct cylinder.
What are signs the rotor may need replacing?
Signs include misfires, hard starting, rough running or a no-start, plus a burned tip, cracks or carbon tracks on the rotor. Other ignition parts can cause these symptoms, so diagnose first.
Which vehicles does the Standard DU-316 fit?
It is listed for classic Citroen, Peugeot, Renault and Simca models, such as the 1961-1969 Peugeot 404 and 1963-1975 Renault R8. See the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list and engine details.
What are the rotor's segments made of?
Standard states that its distributor rotors use solid brass segments for better conductivity and higher-voltage spark to the plugs.
How does the alkyd material help?
The high-grade dielectric strength alkyd resists dirt sticking to it. This helps decrease carbon tracking, which Standard notes is intended to extend service life.
