As a lower pivot between the control arm and the steering knuckle, this ball joint locates the wheel while allowing suspension travel and steering motion. Worn ball joints can produce clunking over the front end, wandering steering and uneven tire wear; if a failed lower ball joint is the cause, this replaces it.
