NTK Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor P/N:EF0155
NTK EF0086 coolant temperature sensor for the 2000-2013 BMW X5 and other vehicles sends an analog coolant temperature signal to the ECM. The ECM uses that signal to set the air/fuel ratio and to run the cooling fan(s) and temperature gauge.
The engine coolant temperature sensor may sit on the cylinder head, engine block, thermostat housing or intake manifold. A check engine light, an erratic or no temperature gauge reading, erratic or no cooling fan operation or overheating can be reasons to replace it. Other faults can produce similar symptoms, so find the cause first: with the engine cool, look over the sensor and its connector for cracks, leaks or corrosion.
The fitment covers a wide range of vehicles, led by the 2000-2013 BMW X5, the 2012-2017 BMW M6 V8 4.4L and the 2008-2017 BMW X6 V8 4.4L. Wires and probe length match OE. This listing is one sensor, and each engine takes one.
One coolant temperature sensor. Mounting clips are included where applicable.

This part cross-references / interchanges with the following part numbers:
Does the NTK EF0086 work as a BMW X5 coolant temperature sensor for 2000-2013 models?
Yes. NTK EF0086 is listed for the 2000-2013 BMW X5. To see whether a different car is covered, look up its year and engine in the "Vehicles it fits" section.
Which hardware comes with this coolant temperature sensor?
NTK EF0086 includes mounting clips where applicable, and thread sealant or an o-ring is installed where applicable. The listing is a single sensor.
What is the housing of this NTK sensor made of, and what is inside it?
The housing is brass, with thermal conductive grease inside that increases sensor response time. The thermistor placement within the housing is set to give proper output.
What can an erratic temperature gauge or cooling fan mean for this sensor?
A check engine light, an erratic or no gauge reading, erratic or no cooling fan operation or overheating can each be a reason to replace the sensor. A shop can test the sensor with the engine running.
Does the NTK EF0086 replace number 158-0924?
Yes. 158-0924 is a listed interchange number for the NTK EF0086 coolant temperature sensor. The other cross-reference numbers are on the Interchange line.
